Temenggor Lake, the second largest man made lake in peninsular Malaysia situated at Gerik, north of Perak. Also a getaway to Royal Belum State Reserved Park, probably the most mysterious rainforest in West Malaysia and also home to wild elephants, tigers and the aborigine people.

This was our stay at Pulau Banding, Temenggor on Nov 2008. Our very first roadtrip across 5 states (Perak-Kelantan-Terengganu-Pahang-Selangor). It took me a couple of months to plan and get our reservations sorted and some googling on which waterfalls to visit across these 5 states. And that I will write more in my other blog. The Belum Rainforest Resort by EMKAY group was opened less than year ago, and from the billboards posted all over PJ, it looked like a pretty fancy place to stay.. So we booked for 2 nights, after all, I thought Al needed a bit of pampering from the stresses of his work.. so this roadtrip was somehow like a 'gift' from me to him, after all of his love and support from my father's passing away last April..
he was totally hooked on this place..
One will enjoy the feeling of being outdoor here, not many roofs connecting the buildings around the resort, the management provides umbrellas at strategically chosen corners for guests. its quite rainy at this side of the jungle :)

Netted windows shielded us from the marauding insects and moths during the night, but we could still open our windows at night to listen to the cicadas
View of the Temenggor Lake from our room in the morning. Mists stayed among the hills till late morning. The hills were beautiful during the rainy season, but the lake was spectacular during the dry season.. so you just have to come here at least a couple of times..

no TV.. they played board games and traditional Malay games of congkak. I couldn't tell which one was more deafening, the marbles against the wood during congkak or the cicadas.. :) even though the resort lacks of other facilities but the kids did not complain, the staffs were very friendly and helpful and we would go there again, one day..
